What to Expect in Buying Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex

My fiancée wanted an external memory/hard drive that is user friendly and that he can actually upgrade the speed and how it will transfer files from his laptop.

He told me about the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Pro and that he wanted this as a present for the holidays. I didn’t realize that this external memory/hard drive could be very cheap and very well known in most of the computer shops that I’ve inquired in.

We bought this at around $80 but without any of the interchangeable cables which we could buy at any computer shops since the shop we bought the Seagate with don’t carry them. The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex is plug and play so we’re very happy with that.

We got the unit for a two years warranty from the computer shop.  Although it says three years in the box which we asked immediately about to the attending personnel and they told us that warranty is only applicable on the place of purchase of the product (USA) and not in our country or Asia.  Even though I wasn’t satisfied that we only got two years warranty it was good enough. 

The good thing about it is that it works with Mac and Windows OS and its compatible cables add worth in the flexibility and speed area of this unit.  It also comes with Memeo backup software and it’s sometimes quite annoying since it pops up almost every time we connect it to our laptop.

What we also like with Seagate is that the software installer files are only on the hard drive so we can access them directly on the drive anywhere. The Memeo backup software installation was easy and doesn’t need any special information at all.  The Seagate dashboard can be seen on the desktop that serves as a core for screening previous backups and also provides a view of data on the drive.

This unit is cost effective as it cuts the cost by giving us the option to buy only the connections that is compatible and suited to our needs.  Seagate really did well in making data backups easier and this external hard drive is truly recommended for extra date storage and easy upgrades.

We use it now as extra storage for all of our photos and videos.  I will give this product a rating of 8 out of 10.  What can I further say?  It’s easy to use, the speed is wonderful, and the price is cheap than the other competitors that can’t even compare with it on its speed to transfer and read files, reliable and did I say very affordable?

I would definitely recommend this unit to my friends and family members actually some of my friends and relatives are already using this unit because of what I’ve told them.  This is one of the best buys we have for last year and hope that it will last more years than its warranty.
